Rapid bridge deck repairs receive high marks

The weeks and sometimes months required for traditional concrete bridge deck repairs are now history, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) officials have discovered. Under its implementation of Strategic Highway Research Program practice and products, VDOT is turning to a rapid bridge deck repair technique that has proved successful on three rehabilitation jobs. Officials report that the successful and cost-effective construction method, Rapid Set Latex Modified Concrete (RSLMC) Overlay, was used most recently on southbound lanes of the Interstate 395 bridge spanning the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Washington, D.C.
