Salt Lake City opens new main library

A crescent-shaped, inclining wall encompasses the library buildings and supports an outdoor walkway to the library's rooftop garden. It is one of three geometric elements that comprise the 240,000-sq.-ft. Salt Lake City Main Public Library, which also includes a triangular main library (whose windows form the base of the triangle) and an adjacent, rectangular office building. Since opening day in February, the SLC Main Library has seen more than 150,000 visitors and a 150 percent increase in circulation of materials.
